Seeking Joy in Simple Pleasures

“Marnie” is my maternal grandmother, the matriarch of our family. One of the major qualities she displays is her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether that be in a simple conversation, time in the garden or a well cooked meal.

This inspires us and guides our view on Rosé. It might not be the most serious or expensive wine in the market but it’s the one that can so simply deliver joy on a multitude of occasions.

REGION: Pyrenees, Victoria

VINEYARD: Camfield Family Vineyard, on red clay, on Djab Wurrung Country

VINTAGE: 2024

VARIETAL: 50% Sangiovese + 50% Pinot Gris on skins

GROWING SEASON: Pyrenees saw a great growing season with a mild, dry summer with only a few warmer days.

ALCOHOL:  11.5% - 6.8 standard drinks

WINEMAKING: The Sangiovese fruit was picked early, destemmed and pressed after a few hours of skin contact. The Pinot Gris was destemmed and then spent 5 days on skins before heading to the press. Both parcels underwent native fermentation separately in stainless steel tanks before being blended together.

FOOD MATCH: A very versatile wine. Naturally I think of charcuterie but it has the weight to be able to stand up for heavier dishes such as rich pastas or even the classic roast chicken.
